Our Practice

Our practice was established in 1996 when Len Watson chose to leave the Rotorua multi-partnered chartered accountancy firm in which he was partner, to set up in sole practice.  At that time, it was his intention to set up a small sized firm which valued the direct personal contacts with clients, and where clients could make contact with the practice without wondering on each occasion who they were likely to be talking to.  In keeping with this intention, we started off with three people in the practice in 1996 and it remains that way today.

We offer a wide range of services to small to medium sized clients including manufacturers, service providers, wholesalers, retailers, farmers, investors and property owners.  We provide the normal services expected of accountants in practice including the preparation of annual financial statements, taxation returns, GST and payrolls, business budgets and advice on the various issues that small sized businesses are often confronted with.

In addition, we provide more specialist services relating to advice on business structures, creation and operation of family trusts, small business valuations, forensic accounting with respect to assisting with settlement of financial disputes, taxation advice (including as required in conjunction with specialist tax advising accountancy firms) and litigation support on matters before the District and High Courts.  Our understanding of our clients' business and family positions puts us in a unique position to assist with their succession planning requirements and, in conjunction with their solicitor, to put those plans into effect.

We practice from premises on the edge of Rotorua's CDB and use the best of modern electronic tools that enable us to be as efficient and as accurate as possible in processing client financial data.  We make extensive use of the range of Microsoft software products and utilise the practice management, taxation return and financial statements software produced by APS, the leading accounting software house in Australasia.  We have recently extended our data processing services by encouraging our clients to use the systems provided by BANKLINK whereby bank account transactions are downloaded electronically and processed into free software provided by Banklink.
